Former Indian Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda has issued a stern admonition to his grandson, Prajwal Revanna, the Hassan MP, instructing him to return from abroad and confront the legal proceedings pertaining to the obscene video scandal.
Prajwal Revanna is currently under investigation by a Special Investigation Team (SIT) formed by the Karnataka government following allegations of sexual harassment and criminal intimidation made by a woman employed in his household.
In a publicly shared letter on X, the JDS patriarch expressed ignorance about his grandson’s whereabouts but firmly demanded his return to India to face the judiciary.
“I have already stated unequivocally that he should receive the most severe punishment under the law if found culpable. I cannot persuade the public that I was oblivious to Prajwal’s activities. I cannot assure them that I have no intention of protecting him. I cannot convince them that I am unaware of his movements and his overseas journey. My actions are guided by my conscience. I have faith in God, and I am confident that the divine knows the truth,” Gowda wrote.
Gowda stressed the necessity of submitting to the judicial process, clarifying, “This is not a plea; it is a directive.”
He also implored Revanna to return if he harbors any residual respect for him.
Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has already communicated with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, urging the cancellation of Prajwal Revanna’s diplomatic passport.
Sources indicate that the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has received a formal request from the Karnataka state government to revoke the diplomatic passport of MP Prajwal Revanna.
