On Thursday, May 23, Lady Shri Ram College and Sri Venkateswara College, two esteemed institutions under Delhi University, were the targets of alarming bomb threats. Responding with alacrity, the Delhi Fire Service and the Delhi Police descended upon the campuses to ensure the security of all individuals and to scrutinize the veracity of the threats.
After meticulous inspections, the Delhi Police proclaimed the bomb threats to be unfounded. “We received multiple calls about bomb threats at colleges. All of these were false alarms. There’s no cause for concern,” ANI cited the police.
This unnerving episode comes on the heels of a similar bomb scare on May 22 at the North Block, which accommodates the Ministry of Home Affairs’ offices. That threat also proved to be a hoax.
The bomb threats at Lady Shri Ram College and Sri Venkateswara College follow a series of analogous threats directed at various educational institutions in Delhi-NCR, Jaipur, Uttar Pradesh, and Bengaluru. These email threats, which incited significant panic, were ultimately deemed baseless.
Earlier in the week, the Delhi Police divulged that the bomb threat emails dispatched to around 150 schools in Delhi-NCR earlier this month were believed to have originated from Budapest, Hungary.
