Bibhav Kumar, an aide to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, filed a police complaint against AAP MP Swati Maliwal on Friday. He contends that she unlawfully breached the security at the Chief Minister’s residence on May 13, thereby causing a disruption, as per party reports relayed by PTI.
The party also stated that when Kumar endeavored to prevent her unauthorized entry, Maliwal retaliated with verbal abuse.
In his emailed grievance to the Station House Officer (SHO) of Civil Lines Police Station, Kumar claimed that Maliwal is now attempting to falsely accuse him of assaulting her during her visit to Kejriwal. A copy of the complaint was also dispatched to the Deputy Commissioner of Police (North).
According to a statement from the AAP, Kumar’s complaint detailed that Maliwal forcefully and without authorization accessed the Chief Minister’s residence, causing a commotion. When Kumar intervened, she allegedly directed derogatory language towards him with the intent to assault, as the complaint specifies.
Kumar further alleged that Maliwal is endeavoring to falsely implicate him to exert undue pressure. Maliwal has already lodged a First Information Report (FIR) against Kumar, alleging that he assaulted her when she sought to meet Kejriwal at his official residence on May 13.
Details of Kumar’s Allegation
In his complaint, Kumar elucidated that Maliwal gained entry to Kejriwal’s residence on May 13 by informing the security personnel that she was a Rajya Sabha MP. “Despite the security officers’ requests to verify her appointment details, she forcibly entered the Chief Minister’s residence against objections,” Kumar stated.
The complaint highlighted that she trespassed despite repeated objections from security personnel and the Chief Minister’s office staff. At 9:22 am, when Kumar entered the main building of the Chief Minister’s residence, he discovered Maliwal in the drawing room. “Kumar approached Maliwal and courteously requested her to adhere to the proper procedure for meeting the Chief Minister. In response, Maliwal began yelling and hurling abuses at Kumar, exclaiming: ‘How dare you stop an MP? What is your status?’,” the complaint mentioned.
Maliwal disregarded the requests and moved towards the inner sections of the residence, Kumar noted in his complaint. Kumar asserted that she intended to harm Kejriwal, and when he strongly objected, Maliwal became irate, sat on a sofa, and called the police control room, starting to level false allegations against him.
Kumar recounted that when he requested Maliwal to vacate the Chief Minister’s residence, she threatened him, saying, “I will ensure you are trapped in a false case and spend your life in prison.”
He mentioned that security officers in the main building were also summoned and requested her to leave. She vacated the premises at 9:35 am, according to the complaint. Kumar has alleged that Maliwal trespassed, breached the security of the Chief Minister’s residence, obstructed government officers from performing their duties, and assaulted him. Hence, he asserts that she should face legal action.
Kumar concluded, “You (SHO) are requested to take appropriate legal action against Maliwal. Given that it is election time, this incident may have been orchestrated at the behest of the BJP. Therefore, it is requested that her call records, chats, and interactions with BJP leaders be scrutinized.”
