Lok Sabha Elections 2024: PM Modi to Engage in Contemplative Retreat at Vivekanand Rock in Kanyakumari Post Campaign

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is poised to embark on a sojourn to Kanyakumari, Tamil Nadu, on May 30. During his visit, he intends to immerse himself in meditation at the Dhyan Mandapam, the hallowed site where Swami Vivekanand once meditated, spanning from May 30 to June 1. Although the detailed itinerary of the Prime Minister’s visit remains undisclosed, sources within the BJP indicate that PM Modi will frequent the Rock Memorial, engaging in continuous meditation throughout the two-day interval.

The Prime Minister’s pilgrimage is anticipated to commence 48 hours prior to the polling of the seventh and final phase of the Lok Sabha elections on June 1. This visit is imbued with symbolic significance, as PM Modi has elected to meditate at the same rock where Swami Vivekanand meditated for three days, envisioning a prosperous India.

The Dhyan Mandapam, or Vivekanand Rock Memorial, is situated near the statue of Tamil saint Tiruvalluvar, amidst the waters off the coast of Kanniyakumari, India’s southernmost point.

Prime Minister Modi is expected to arrive in Kanyakumari on May 30 and may depart for Delhi on June 1, coinciding with the conclusion of the elections. The vote counting and subsequent result declaration are slated for June 4.

This visit draws parallels to PM Modi’s previous visit to Kedarnath, where he was observed meditating in a sanctified cave adorned in saffron robes, just before the 2019 Lok Sabha election verdict.

The Prime Minister, who has consistently selected Hindu shrines to forge a spiritual connection with the electorate, has chosen Kanyakumari to convey a message of national solidarity, according to BJP leaders.

The seven-phase elections, commencing on April 19, will determine whether Modi will secure a third consecutive term as Prime Minister, equaling the record of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, India’s inaugural Prime Minister.

PM Modi and the BJP, having launched their campaign with the ambition of the NDA coalition securing over 400 out of the 543 seats, assert their confidence in forming the government once more. Both the Prime Minister and Union Home Minister Amit Shah have expressed that the BJP is poised to match or surpass the number of seats won in the 2019 elections.
