In anticipation of the fifth voting phase, erstwhile Vice President Mohammad Hamid Ansari, previous Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh, former Deputy Prime Minister LK Advani, and ex-Union Minister Dr. Murli Manohar Joshi availed themselves of the domicile voting provision, as per the declaration by Delhi’s electoral commission.
The Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Delhi instigated the domicile voting amenity on Thursday, catering to senior voters and individuals with disabilities (PwDs), a service available until May 24.
According to data disseminated by the CEO’s office, on Friday, marking the second day of this initiative, a total of 1,409 constituents exercised their franchise from their residences across the seven parliamentary sectors in Delhi. The West Delhi constituency witnessed the highest engagement, with 348 home votes, of which 299 were from senior citizens.
Concluding the second day’s tally, an aggregate of 2,956 voters have utilized this home-based voting facility, the CEO’s office confirmed.
Former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh and erstwhile Union Minister Dr. Murli Manohar Joshi cast their ballots on May 17 in the New Delhi parliamentary segment, as affirmed by the CEO’s office.
In a parallel occurrence, previous Vice President Mohammad Hamid Ansari voted on Thursday.
Former Deputy Prime Minister LK Advani partook in the voting process on Saturday, according to PTI sources.
On the inaugural day, 1,482 voters opted for the domicile voting facility. In total, 5,406 voters in Delhi, encompassing senior citizens and PwDs, have submitted Form 12D to avail the home voting service in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.
Delhi’s electorate will cast their votes to select their Lok Sabha representatives on May 25.
