In the early hours of Monday, a handful of educational institutions in Jaipur, Rajasthan, found themselves grappling with menacing bomb threats conveyed through electronic mail, mirroring recent incidents that stoked security apprehensions in schools across Delhi and Ahmedabad.
As reported by NDTV, the targeted educational establishments encompass St Teresa’s School, MPS School, Vidyashram School, and Manak Chowk School, all situated within the region of Jaipur.
With urgency dictating their response, authorities swiftly evacuated the premises and ensured the safe dispersal of students to their respective homes, as confirmed by law enforcement personnel.
According to PTI, law enforcement agencies, bolstered by bomb detection units and canine squads, promptly descended upon the premises to conduct thorough investigations and neutralize any potential threats.
Jaipur Police Commissioner, Biju George Joseph, communicated, “A number of educational institutions, ranging between four and five, have been the recipients of alarming bomb threats. Law enforcement officers have been promptly deployed to these institutions to assess and address the situation.”
This disconcerting turn of events unfolded in the wake of similar incidents on the preceding Sunday, wherein two medical facilities and the Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi found themselves besieged by ominous bomb threats transmitted via electronic correspondence. Burari Hospital and Sanjay Gandhi Hospital bore the brunt of these threats, as confirmed by the Delhi Fire Services, while the airport received a chilling email at approximately 6 pm. Responding with alacrity, law enforcement agencies swiftly mobilized, dispatching personnel and bomb disposal squads to the aforementioned locations.
These occurrences, occurring eleven days subsequent to a wave of hoax bomb threats targeting over 150 educational institutions across Delhi-NCR, underscore the persistent challenges posed by such malevolent acts and the imperative for swift and decisive action to safeguard public safety and instill confidence in the community.
