In an unopposed decision, TDP’s Narsipatnam MLA, C Ayyannapatrudu, was acclaimed as the Speaker of the 16th Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly on Saturday. The assembly saw no rival nominations for this prestigious role.
According to PPK Ramacharyulu, the Secretary General of the Legislative Assembly, three nominations were submitted for the Speaker’s role on Friday, all endorsing Ayyannapatrudu.
The second day of the inaugural session of the 16th Legislative Assembly began at 10:30 AM today. Three MLAs who hadn’t taken their oath on Friday completed their formalities, ensuring all 175 MLAs of the southern state have now been sworn in.
Concurrently, YSRCP chief YS Jagan Mohan Reddy is anticipated to skip the Assembly session due to a prearranged visit to Kadapa district later today. The opposition party’s statement indicated that the former CM intends to spend the forthcoming three days in Pulivendula.
