Air Arabia Flight from Kerala to Sharjah Encounters Hoax Bomb Threat

An Air Arabia flight, poised for departure to Sharjah from Calicut International Airport on a serene Saturday morning, became the center of a bomb threat scare that ultimately proved to be a hoax. This unsettling incident led to the aircraft being temporarily grounded as the police’s bomb detection squad embarked on a meticulous inspection, as confirmed by airport sources and reported by ANI.

A high-ranking airport official divulged that a passenger, arriving from Sharjah to Calicut, had irresponsibly left a note bearing the word ‘bomb’ on one of the seats. This alarming note was uncovered by ground personnel prior to the commencement of boarding procedures.

The police were swiftly alerted, and the plane was promptly grounded to facilitate a comprehensive inspection by the bomb detection squad, the official elaborated.

“It was subsequently ascertained that the note constituted a hoax bomb threat. The inspection and accompanying security protocols have just concluded. We are currently awaiting a formal report from the bomb detection squad before authorizing the flight for takeoff,” the official stated at approximately 11 am.

Additionally, it was communicated that the flight, originally scheduled to depart around 8:30 am, has been rescheduled to approximately 5 pm.

“The passengers have been accommodated within the airport premises and provided with refreshments,” the official added.

Concurrently, the police have declared that the passenger responsible for leaving the note remains unidentified, and investigative efforts are underway to ascertain the individual behind this spurious threat.

An officer from the Karipur police station indicated that further actions will be pursued once the perpetrator of the hoax threat is identified.
