Rs 8 crore cash seized in Andhra Pradesh’s NTR district amid Lok Sabha polls

In the midst of the current Lok Sabha electoral process, the NTR district law enforcement authorities made a significant discovery on Wednesday, unveiling a substantial cash sum amounting to Rs 8 crore at the Garikapadu inspection point in Andhra Pradesh.

The currency was stumbled upon concealed within a pipe-laden truck, nestled within a distinct compartment, during routine surveillance. Two individuals have been apprehended by the local law enforcement.

Reports suggest that the funds were en route from Hyderabad to Guntur, as per ANI sources.

Chandra Shekhar, the Jaggaiahpet Circle Inspector, stated to ANI, “We shall entrust this sum to the district’s oversight teams, with further measures to be implemented by the electoral commission personnel and the airborne squad team.”

During the fourth phase of the Lok Sabha elections on May 13, all 25 constituencies in Andhra Pradesh are set to undergo the polling process, with the tallying of votes scheduled for June 4.
