The Regional Meteorological Centre situated in Jaipur has issued a cautionary yellow alert and heatwave advisories throughout Rajasthan as temperatures surge beyond 44 degrees Celsius in diverse districts, as reported by ANI. As indicated by the meteorological bureau, temperatures are poised to escalate further in the following trio of days, particularly in the Jaipur, Jodhpur, and Bharatpur divisions. There’s a likelihood of temperatures surging by 2-3 degrees Celsius in these regions over the ensuing two to three days. Some districts, including Jaipur, Jaisalmer, and Sriganganagar, have already surpassed the 44 degrees Celsius threshold.
Barmer witnessed the highest temperature recorded for May 7th at 44.6 degrees Celsius. Moreover, temperatures in Jaipur, Jaisalmer, and Ganganagar have eclipsed the 44 degrees Celsius mark, while the Bikaner division is anticipated to encounter temperatures ranging between 44 and 45 degrees Celsius. The repercussions of the heatwave are conspicuous in the lives of the populace, with diminished vehicular movement on thoroughfares during the afternoon compared to standard days, as denizens prefer remaining indoors.
“We are equipped with water flasks and enveloping ourselves with dupattas to evade the sweltering conditions,” Raqam, a local resident, conveyed to ANI. He expounded on the intensity of the scorching heatwave, making venturing outdoors arduous. According to the meteorological department, Rajasthan is poised to endure prevailing heat conditions for the following 3-4 days, with western Rajasthan expected to bear witness to a more pronounced surge in temperatures.
Another inhabitant by the name of Rajiv articulated, “Rajasthan has perennially grappled with formidable heat, and it’s prudent to tote along water flasks, parasols, and partake in consuming watery and seasonal fruits, alongside imbibing buttermilk and juices to mitigate the effects of the heat.” With contributions from ANI.
